Happy Halloween

Hey guys! I just wanted to wish everyone a happy and safe halloween this weekend. :)

I haven't been doing much with my nails, lately.. but I felt like sharing some of the plain junk I've been doing, for lack of anything better.

My nails for this week. Sorry for the crappy webcam pic, but I'm so tired from all kinds of last-minute stuff this week.

My favorite combo this week has been Sally Hansen's Hidden Treasure over Essie's Haute as Hello. I think it's gorgeous, even though I can't get any good pictures.. It looks like a fire opal or something. Currently on my toes!

Zoya's Julieanne, which I adore. This was just something random from a week or so ago. I found a bunch of bindi jewels in my drawer that I got years ago, and decided to use them for nail art.

Well, that's about it.. I'm hoping to get around to doing some more more serious art once I start feeling better.

Also, if anyone has Milani's Dress Maker, I'm still willing to trade for it or whatever.

Meep!

I forgot to mention in my last post: I'm currently entered in a contest over at Polish Freshie!

If you are following her, like my design(entry #3), and would like to vote for me, I would greatly appreciate it. :)

Viva vacation

My aunt is going on a secret vacation for her birthday, so I did her nails as a present. She wanted something bright and kinda beachy. She had to pick someone up from the airport, so I didn't do serious designs on every nail because it would've taken too long. I like the sunsets I did, I wasn't sure how to do them, but I think they turned out pretty nice. I also gave her a pedi with pink and blue that turned out really cute. I hope she has fun on her trip! :)

Yay, new clothes!

No nails today, sadly; I've been quite lazy and only doing solid colors. Sometimes I just want to take a break and relax. Tomorrow, however, I'll be doing my aunt's nails for her, since she's going on vacation and wanted something fun. I'll be sure to post them!

Despite my lack of nail motivation, I've had plenty of other motivation.. since I started my organic diet in August, I've lost 16lbs! It's amazing what cutting out processed food and adding light exercise to your life will do. My goal wasn't really to lose weight; I needed to change my diet because I have gallstones, which are very painful when irritated by bad food. However, the weight-loss is certainly a great bonus. I've battled weight all my life- at my heaviest I weighed almost 230lbs -and I've struggled to keep it off and get healthier. Since graduation high school in 2005, I've managed to drop a fair amount, and now with my improved diet and lifestyle, I'm weighing in at 5'9" and 174lbs. My goal is 165lbs, but I'd be happy with 170 even. I'm never going to be thin, and I don't want to be, honestly; I just want to be healthy. Isn't that what everyone really wants?

So, to reward myself for what I feel like is an accomplishment, I splurged and bought myself a new fall/winter dress.

It's from Modcloth(I know they're overpriced, but I could find it anywhere else), and I really love it. I've always been afraid to wear stripes because people say the accent your weight, but I found it pretty flattering on me. Isn't it adorable? Totally a holiday dress. I might do same nails based on it!

Anyway, that's enough about that, I suppose. I'm getting stoked for Halloween. I can't drink or eat candy, but I can still dress up, woo!

Sugar Skulls

Experimenting with halloweenish stuff once again.. I love sugar skulls. I have one sitting on my nightstand right now. They're just so pretty and fun looking. And my mom really loves them too, so I decided to give them a shot. I'm not entirely happy with them, but I needed the practice since I've been slacking lately. I need new brushes! Argh. Oh, they also glow in the dark, but I couldn't get a picture, sadly.

Sally Hansen, White On

Sally Hansen, Lightening

So long summer

I couldn't resist and had to use my new polish. I wanted something bright and cheery since it's been cold and gray here this week. I used Essie's Haute As Hello as the base and I looooooooooove it! It's such a gorgeous cheery color. As with all Essie pastel's I have, it needed 3 coats, but application wasn't as bad as usual. I used Essie's Turquoise & Caicos, and Mint Candy Apple for the accents, plus some yellow acrylic paint. Really simple for me, I know. I just don't have the energy for complicated nails all the time!

Like my rings? I got the big butterfly at a convention in Atlanta, at a booth with lots of weird rings. I loved how over the top it was. The one on my thumb belonged to my grandmother. It's set with a real moonstone. It has a matching bracelet but I never wear it, sadly. Anyway, enjoy!

Also.. if anyone can get me a bottle of Milani's Dress Maker, I'll trade/pay you for it. It's like a fucking unicorn around here.

Yay polish!

I dropped by Ulta today because I had a ton of coupons and Sally's was closed for some reason. I had extra cash to burn, so I picked up some fresh colors.

Seche Vite, since my old one was yucky. Also: If you have shrinking trouble with Seche, wrap your tips!
Essie Matte About You topcoat, since I’ve been wanting one. It was the only matte coat they had.
Essie Turquoise & Caicos
Essie Lilacism
Essie Haute As Hello
Zoya Julieanne
Zoya Cheryl

I usually don't buy Essie(I have issues with their formula), but the colors were so pretty, and they were buy two get one free. I'm stoked about the Zoya, though! They had the Wicked collection, and I thought Julieanne and Cheryl looked gorgeous. I've never used Zoya before, but I hear it's great. I think I'll be swatching Cheryl first since it feels very fall out now.

I also picked up some new warm furry slip-on slippers from DSW and an awesomely ugly sweater at Goodwill. It's so Bill Cosby. Love it.
